Summary

Conscious parenting is about becoming mindful of your behaviour and engaging with your child as an individual。

Dr Tsabary inspires parents to get back in touch with their emotions and shed the layers of baggage they have inherited during their own life and are unconsciously heaping on their children。 As they become 'conscious' in their parenting, so parents can transform their relationship with their offspring and raise happy, well-adjusted children。

The Conscious Parent is already transforming the way people are parenting through its sales in the US where it's spent 15 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list。 Oprah described the book as 'The most profound book on parenting I've ever read' and Eckhart Tolle has said 'becoming a conscious parent is the greatest gift you can give your child。'

The book features a foreword by His Holiness The Dalai Lama。

If you want to read just one book about parenting and especially about positive parenting, read this!To be honest, when she writes about spirituality, I'm a bit lost, but this book and Dr Tsabary's advise is simply the best。 It took me some time to finish the book but now I have, I want to read it all over again to make sure that I understand and implement as much as possible。This book not only makes you want to become a better parent, it gives you all you need to be one。 If you want to read just one book about parenting and especially about positive parenting, read this!To be honest, when she writes about spirituality, I'm a bit lost, but this book and Dr Tsabary's advise is simply the best。 It took me some time to finish the book but now I have, I want to read it all over again to make sure that I understand and implement as much as possible。This book not only makes you want to become a better parent, it gives you all you need to be one。 。。。more

Slow going but informative I found the information, lessons, and concepts in this book to be great but had such a hard time reading it - it felt like a slog at times, which might be because of the writing style or the heavy content or a combination。 I think this book is great for those of us trying actively to not parent the way we were parented, kind of like a therapy for our inner children who are now parents。

Amazing。。。 Despite knowing how to treat your children, what is best way to raise them & how exactly to help them, our day-to-day unconscious journey with them doesn't do justice to the vision in mind。 While I make every bit of effort, sometimes focus on better parenting was lost。 While the book would give all required different perspectives of children to keep in mind, continuous consciousness is still something for us to build。 And the journey can definitely start with this book。 Candidate of r Amazing。。。 Despite knowing how to treat your children, what is best way to raise them & how exactly to help them, our day-to-day unconscious journey with them doesn't do justice to the vision in mind。 While I make every bit of effort, sometimes focus on better parenting was lost。 While the book would give all required different perspectives of children to keep in mind, continuous consciousness is still something for us to build。 And the journey can definitely start with this book。 Candidate of re-read! 。。。more

Puiki knyga apie tai, kaip svarbu būti sąmoningais auginant vaikus, matyti juo tokius, kokie jie yra。 Rekomenduoju paskaityti auginantiems vaikus。 Radau daug vertingų minčių。

Very insightful book with regards to conscious parenting。 I had to work through my own limiting beliefs as I read through the book but well worth it。 As parents we do need to heal ourselves from our own crap or we pass on to our kids。 Trying to view our children as sovereign beings - especially when they are naughty and looking for the root cause of issue rather than resorting to our learned behavior。 The lesson I took from this book was that the best way for me to parent is to lead by example。 Very insightful book with regards to conscious parenting。 I had to work through my own limiting beliefs as I read through the book but well worth it。 As parents we do need to heal ourselves from our own crap or we pass on to our kids。 Trying to view our children as sovereign beings - especially when they are naughty and looking for the root cause of issue rather than resorting to our learned behavior。 The lesson I took from this book was that the best way for me to parent is to lead by example。 Since reading this book, I have made the children bigger part of the conversation of what’s going on in our home, how we all feel, how we speak to each other, what effect that has - all of it。 We have all been living on top of each other for the past year so having open communication so important。 Much more aware of the lessons I can learn from my kids。 。。。more

There were some good insights in here, but mostly this book just made me feel discouraged as a parent。 A lot of examples given in the book were unrelatable (parent upset that their child didn't get into an Ivy League school, or a parent emotionally or physically abusing their child)。 I think most of us fall somewhere between these examples and there was not much useful information。 I don't know if this was actually the message of the book, but my takeaway was that the author believes all of our There were some good insights in here, but mostly this book just made me feel discouraged as a parent。 A lot of examples given in the book were unrelatable (parent upset that their child didn't get into an Ivy League school, or a parent emotionally or physically abusing their child)。 I think most of us fall somewhere between these examples and there was not much useful information。 I don't know if this was actually the message of the book, but my takeaway was that the author believes all of our parent/child relationship problems stem from our ego and pride and unresolved issues from our past。 It didn't seem like their agency or personality had much to do with it。 I felt as though I was being told that my child's bad behavior was 100% my fault。 I just want my children to be contributing members of society, learning and growing, and respecting and loving others around them。 I can see the value of me changing and loving them in a way that they can reach their full potential, but this book felt like a scolding to parents that was discouraging rather than encouraging。 I couldn't bring myself to read the last few chapters。 。。。more

Some good points but not coherent enough for me。 Quite absolute points which were later contradicted by other absolutes。 Parenting is about holding lots of things in balance but this isn’t shown here。

I really liked this book。 It helped me to be more conscious of where my parenting was coming from because I didn't want it to be about me and most of the time it was。 I really liked this book。 It helped me to be more conscious of where my parenting was coming from because I didn't want it to be about me and most of the time it was。 。。。more

I had a hard time getting through this book, otherwise I would give it 5 stars。 The message can get a bit repetitive but I highlighted SO MUCH in this book。 Even though it was hard to read, there are definitely messages in here that stuck with me and that I think every parent should hear。 I actually had very open and receptive conversations about this book with my kids who are 6 and 8。。。and it was a bit life changing with how responsive they were to the ideas in this book! Audiobook。 My therapist recommended this, and while I didn't find it a perfect book (repetitive, a woo-woo phase at the beginning), it was an important reminder to be more present and gentle with myself and my family。 In the last two weeks it has already helped us all be happier at home, and I think it will help me relax as my kids become teens。 Audiobook。 My therapist recommended this, and while I didn't find it a perfect book (repetitive, a woo-woo phase at the beginning), it was an important reminder to be more present and gentle with myself and my family。 In the last two weeks it has already helped us all be happier at home, and I think it will help me relax as my kids become teens。 。。。more

This book discusses parenting along the lines of being more present and conscious with your children。 At times it felt like she contradicted herself, for example: after saying in the beginning that children don’t need to earn our trust, toward the end she talks about disciplining and the trust they earn as they follow family rules。。。 but in the end, it’s really just a great reminder of how important it is to be present with our children, to not to push our agendas or unfulfilled desires on our c This book discusses parenting along the lines of being more present and conscious with your children。 At times it felt like she contradicted herself, for example: after saying in the beginning that children don’t need to earn our trust, toward the end she talks about disciplining and the trust they earn as they follow family rules。。。 but in the end, it’s really just a great reminder of how important it is to be present with our children, to not to push our agendas or unfulfilled desires on our children, and to always be checking our motivation for any interaction we have with our children to make sure we are not responding with ego。 The more present and conscious we can be, the better we can meet their needs and help them grow into the person they are meant to be, not the person we think will make us look like good parents。 。。。more

Wished there were more examples or guide how to be a more conscious parent but really resonated with the key points of the book。 Our children are unique and authentic beings to be educated and nurtured not to be made into our image。 Parenting (through our children) truly is one of the best teachers, if we allow it。

I honestly think that everyone can benefit from reading this book。 If not to grow and better themselves as a parent, then to understand more their own parents and the way they were raised。 I bought this book expecting only a thesis on parenting but found so much more within its pages。 Tsabary offers a whole new way of looking at the parent/child dynamic and relationship。 Her beliefs resonate with me。 I've read voraciously on parenting, mindfulness, meditation, Buddhism, and other topics that per I honestly think that everyone can benefit from reading this book。 If not to grow and better themselves as a parent, then to understand more their own parents and the way they were raised。 I bought this book expecting only a thesis on parenting but found so much more within its pages。 Tsabary offers a whole new way of looking at the parent/child dynamic and relationship。 Her beliefs resonate with me。 I've read voraciously on parenting, mindfulness, meditation, Buddhism, and other topics that permeate this text, so Tsabary's philosophy is not entirely new to me。 Still, for me, no other author managed to go into such depth and so wholly and beautifully explain the potential the parent/child relationship truly holds。 I can't recommend this book highly enough - it's enlightening, beautiful, and profound regardless of whether you have kids or not。 。。。more

I really enjoyed the concepts introduced in this book around conscious parenting, honestly it is quite far away from my “natural” way of parenting but I would like to try and be a more conscious parent and it’s one of the biggest things I’ve been working on in 2020 and will continue to work on into 2021。 I am glad I purchased this book so I can revisit it。
